The Problem:

Any solution for this cell needed to span far enough to supplement the bridge crane. There was also a sprinkler head and lighting fixture in the ceiling that needed to be avoided.

Application:

Castings are brought in on a work station crane to the work cell. The castings then are lifted and moved to a work bench for cleaning. This happens 6 to 7 times a day.

Why the Mast Type Jib Crane was the Smart Solution:

• -Reduced thrust and pull on the building column - mast type jibs are mounted on the top and bottom of the mast, so the forces applied to the building structure (thrust and pull in this case) are much less than with other types of jibs.
• -No foundation required - mast type jibs also do not require foundations.
